The Making Of My Gallery Piece

We had to make a piece to go into a gallery for one of the units in our course, we could do anything we wanted but it had to be either for "my bloody valentine" or "my funny valentine" And then it would be valued by the owners of the gallery and put on show in the hope that it would sell.

------My Piece------

I wanted to do a dark subject for this, Because I don't celebrate valentines day, and the only boyfriend I had only lasted a few days and ended with insults. So I didn't want to do anything fluffy.
I was reading an article about the horrible subject of "Date Rape" and thats when the idea came to mind. No one else had covered when a date was to go wrong or violent, and I thought that maybe I could try to convey that in my piece, So the image is a party dress on a mannequin in tatters and torn and bloody.
At the gallery I was pleased to see that most of the people I spoke to got the concept.

I hope that despite it's unsettling subject matter you can understand it. I know it's not a nice subject and I know that some people may be upset by it.
